I'd like to welcome all of you ("y'all" in Alabama) to our blog on the new jilministries website and to our Mobile School of Supernatural Ministry (Abundant Harvest Ministry Training Center). I am so excited about what God is doing in our school and I would like you to participate here with comments and testimonies.
I will post a short inspirational message from time to time as well as special events and I would love to hear what God is saying to you as well.
Today, as I was reciting Psalm 91 (Scripture reading assignment for the school), the Lord flashed vv. 14 & 15 out to me like a neon sign: "Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I willset him on high because he has known My name. He will call upon Me and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him."
That's God talking to Someone: Father to Son, Son to Father? about me (and you)!
Then it seemed that God focused my attention even more - upon one statement: "I will...honor him." Did you get that? God - the Creator of the universe, is saying that HE will honor US! Why? "Because he has set his love upon Me" and "because he has known (intimately) My name". All it takes for God to hold us in high esteem is for us to love Him and know Him intimately. Wow! It has nothing to do with our performance, church attendance, or even our obedience. He does not mention any of that - only that we ar intimately in love with Him. He knows that all of those other things will flow out of intimacy, not create it.
Bill Johnson, in his book The Supernatural Power of A Transformed Mind, says: "...God has elevated us from servants to friends. He invites us into a relationship that goes beyond employer-employee interactions. He is willing for us to engage Him...to change His mind, to direct His ideas, to share in His unfolding creative work. He doesn't lack for ideas. He just enjoys our participation.
"When you become a friend of God, you don't lose the humility and obedience of a servant, but your relational perspective shifts. There is a point in our relationship with God where obedience is no longer the primary issue" (p. 142).
This revelation today has revolutionized my understanding of how Father feels about me (and you). Can we ever see God as being mad at us for our failures after He says He will honor us because we love Him and He regards us as friends? Wow! You can't help but have a good day after realizing how He feels about you! So go out and have one!
